1980 gmc with highback buckets

i have known this truck since new. the original owner who ordered the truck still lives in my county. i got the opportunity to buy the truck last week and jumped on it. i think its a pretty rare truck. the person who ordered it new had done his research and ordered every option he could. he also saved every piece of paperwork that came with the truck and all the stickers and instruction cards. i have 2 full binders of paperwork including 2 build sheets. it even has a gmc compass that mounts on the drivers side door just rear of the outside mirror. [ i have if off in the pic] he changed out the wheels when the truck had 100 miles on it. the steering wheel and a stereo has been added. what i think is unique is the high back buckets and the console. you can see the seats on the build sheet.

Beautiful truck, lots of interesting choices in the options, eg manual trans with all those luxuries. I'd venture to say it might be a one of a kind combo.

If you can add an OEM steering wheel, that would really complete the interior, imo.

I agree. Put an original steering wheel on and the truck will make it feel like a rare untouched truck, congrats, very nice.

The bucket seats are the style you got when you ordered the bucket seat option. You had your choice of standard bench seat, full-depth foam bench seat or the bucket seats. I think the high back style started in '77 with '76 being the last year for the short back bucket seats. Very nice truck and always great to get all that documentation with it too!

found this in the glovebox. the night i got the truck back to the shop i thought it was a compass but today realized it was a thermometer that was mounted on the outside of the drivers door. i had to make up a new bracket today and put it back on were it was mounted.

That’s a neat accessory. I’ve only seen those on the GMC Motorhomes.

Dang it’s 110 in Canada send that my way lol. Seriously nice truck looks pretty much rust free and with a ton of great options. Are you going to go for a repaint or just clean up the burn and clear it
