1966 Cab side moldings -- sails

Are the oem sails on a 1966 Custom - aluminum or stainless steel?

Re: 1966 Cab side moldings -- sails

I always like stainless also. Either are somewhat scarce on the aftermarket right now. I did find a pair of aluminum from Classic Parts.

My wife's brother in law bought a 66 gto in 1967 from a small town friend before he went to Nam that was still all original. The lower window molding on the driver side was stainless, the lower window molding on the passenger side was polished aluminum. He still has this car.

My 67 custom of course came with stainless and aluminum but not a mix for the same general piece that I know of. A lot of things I do not know.

Re: 1966 Cab side moldings -- sails

I wouldn't want to ruin a stainless set, but for an aluminum set where all the anodizing is worn I was thinking of painting all trim black. I think it would look really cool with black bumpers and grill on a red or blue truck.
