I need help removing WARN lockout

I broke a wheel stud and am trying to get the hub off. I am stuck with the lockout hub. I have removed the cap/knob, the split ringoff the center shaft, the gear and spring. It looks as if I have got about half of it out. Is there another split ring? If so where, I am not seeing it. Thanks

I had trouble getting mine out on one side as well! Just gave up on it because I didn't have the time at the moment. Still haven't figured out why it wouldn't come out, it went in without too much trouble. And i'm pretty sure you should only have one snap ring in there holding it in. It seems to be it was like the lock-out was too small for the hole in the hub? didn't make much sense to me.

I have old Warn Lock-O-Matic hubs which may be different. They also have a ring that unscrews, but first (IIRC) you need to back out some tiny allen screws (from that ring).

The manual hubs use about 6-8 screws that hold on the cap (mine is plastic some are metal). He already has that off, the snap ring out, and the one gear that fits inside.

There is a retaining ring around the inside edge of the hub VERY hard to see a couple of small straight screwdrivers will be all you need once you remove the retaining ring you can take one of your bolts out of the lockout screw it in and pull it out then remove the bearing retainer nut Good Luck

Thanks guys found that outside ring and now have everything but the last "nut" out. Does this last nut take a special tool, it has four notches.I might be able to turn it with a hammer and screwdriver. Whenever I take a hammer to something I usually end up sorry.

bout 10 bucks at a place like advance auto or a similar parts house, pretty easy to find.

Dont know if this is something Autozone or Advance auto would carry or not I have had mine so long i dont even remember where I got it Auto zone rents tools as long as you take it back within 48 hrs you get your money back

Advance autos carry them, thats where I got mine, lifetime warranty as well.
