Overkill? Bought rotissetie for project

I realize this is overkill for a truck but I decided to purchase a rotisserie for my project. When I bought truck the guy had cab ready for paint. He had also undercoated cab and part of firewall. Me being me I want to see what was covered up and quality of work that undercoat can hide. I also am not a fan of undercoat especially on firewall so it needs removed.

So I figured with the cab mounted to rotisserie it will be the best way to move cab from shop to blaster guy and back to body shop. With it being a complete interior and exterior paint job I figured it would be easier for my paint guy as well. Also will be a good place to store cab until we are ready to place on frame.

Anyone else use these on their projects?

I used a home-made jobber to de-rust, patch panel work, strip, and paint my cab...it is a fantastic tool. Yours looks like the Apollo space ship compared to my cobbled together pile of scrap steel! Nice!

Thanks, I found a used one but it was only $400 cheaper and a 8 hour round trip to pick it up. This one was on sale and free shipping. This also has the 8" casters for loading on my trailer and the extra support legs on each corner that are removable.

The plan is to sell when finished or perhaps offer it out as rental. I see the going rate on rental is $60-75 per month and I'm sure most big projects are a year or longer.

Yes, overkill But if that's what floats your boat. I've managed many a truck restoration without anything like that, is why I say so.

Yeh I know i could have done it off a simple cart but hey might as well make it easy on everyone involved. If it gets me a flawless paint job inside and out it's worth it to me. I think selling it when finished will not be an issue so in my opinion money well spent.


MadisonDale Farms LLC named after my first daughter and grandfather therefore the name of one of our farming businesses. Here we restore mostly IH tractors and Repairs. Just finished off the high bay but waiting on heating guy to get us some much needed heat for Michigan winters.

I used what I had laying around and made one.

That is a Nice one.

I have looked into them before I built mine.
I have not seen one like that.

I considered building but with price of steel, casters and my labor I wouldn't have been able to get ot done in a timely manner. This one was on sale for $1449.00 with free shipping. Nicely built with 8 ton Jack's on each end. I figure a manufactured one will be easier to resell than a home but one.

The steel would have run the bill up for sure.

I got a used one to use when doing work on my suburban. Bought it for $600 used it for 3 years and sold it for $650. Worth it in my opinion. It also made painting the roof a lot easier. The Sub needed a hell of a lot more cross bracing than a cab will need though!

I hate painting inside and under beds without one.

I did the same, had this rotisserie for years. It gets borrowed out from project to project. We have to make these projects easier when ever you can, we are all not getting any younger.

Years ago I made one for a couple of Camaro and Mustang projects. Made cleaning and painting the bottom so much easier.
Didn't use it on my 68 C10 project.

How do you like that one so far? I need one for my 2nd gen camaro I’m getting into this year and was looking at other brands that were more expensive…hadn’t even heard of that brand.

I have a homemade fixture that bolts to the bottom of the cab using the frame mount location, then tilts forward to expose the bottom of the cab. If you want you can remove the tilt portion, put it on the back and tilt it exposing the front half of the bottom of the cab. Since I build almost everything that I need could you show the rear portion of the rotisserie and how it bolts on?

I agree...no way its overkill..
I built my own, got around $500 in materials..makes it soooooo much easier when you doing repair and patch panels..
I did the IH cab and bed on mine..
The Travelall will be the next to be mounted up followed by my AD truck..
Then I'll probably sell it..
Downside is they do take up space, so if you dont have a fair amount of working area, they can be in the way at times

Definitely not an overkill ! I've used mine for 3 of my projects and loaned it out for 3 more. Working under a vehicle that's propped up by jack stands is a real PITA. You don't have to practice to be miserable. Use it once and you'll never go back to "old school".

I did some researching and really liked the Titan (yellow ones) but they were $1665.00 plus shipping. Started looking around and found Redline Equipment out of Florida. They sold the Titan and the "Redline Version" When I called to speak to them regarding the Titan vs Redline they said they are the same Rotisserie, made from same place just branded with different name. The Redline also came standard with the extra legs that bolt off each corner of lift for tip over protection. Price on the Redline was $1449.00 with free shipping so I went with it.

The main reason I liked the Redline and Titan was the BIG casters for rolling around, all others were small casters and figured they would be harder to roll on trailer etc.

I highly recommend the Redline Version
