New here, 68 with some questions (suspension, wheels)
Been lurking a while. My dad bought this truck back in the 90's. So it looks like it was redone in the 90's. He wants to bring it in to this decade now so Im trying to get some ideas for the truck. He is wanting to dump some money in it when the weather starts to warm up. We have a guy that works on these old C-10s for a living and hes offered up some suggestions.. We are looking at lowering it, putting discs up front, and switching over to 5 lugs. Im curious as to what companies you guys are using for these items. Also curious what kind of wheels sizes we should be looking at, backspacing and all that. Wanting to run 20's, with maybe wider wheels in the back. Not really sure yet. Just kinda piecing all the things together now.. Best pics I have currently

Wow! That is super nice. If it were my truck I'd lower for sure 2.5/4 or 4/6 depending upon your likes. Power disc up front for certain and for greater wheel selection going to 5 lug is desirable.
There will be many along soon to point you to vendors to use. I did a 2.5" static drop on the front of my truck with CPP products. Disc brake install at the same time, of course.

Get those tires off as soon as you can. They could blow at any minute and wreck a very nice truck.

Yep. As I recall, 8 years is the benchmark lifespan of tires. Not worth the risk over the price of tires.

Great looking truck, I agree on the tires. Most everything else looks good to me, get some 6 lug disc's keep the wheels, add the drop you want and find a LS if you want a modern upgrade.

Post up some pics of the front and rear suspension so we can see what you’re dealing with
I definitely recommend Moser Engineering for 5-lug rear axles.

They definitely date the truck. If your dad is looking for a fresher look then those are the wrong wheels. It's a beautiful truck.

I agree running old tires is a big bad. But I for one see the value in a time capsule like this. I never did like those wheels, or anything that came out since a much earlier era, but I like them now as making that truck a blast from the past. Era-builds are the coolest in my eyes. Beats the heck out of cookie-cutter follow the leader styling. Take a step outside the box and others will follow, has been my experience. Wait another decade and you'll see. Oh well. I get wanting to change things up after looking the same all these years. Saying wheels or the look is dated cracks me up. These trucks are dated! What a styling survivor you have there. The stance looks plenty low to me as it sits. I have ideas that go back in time where I've seen no one go. I wish I could carry them out. I know people would have a positive reaction. These trucks represent 5 to 6 decades to choose from, and I've been with them through them all. What's cookie cutter today will be seen as "dated" in time, just like this build. I passed right through that era sticking with a classic old school vibe that people eat up today

Yea, The wheels just yell 90's .. I think a new set will bring him up to date.. Over all the truck is pretty solid. I put rockers on it about 20 years ago.. It permanently resides in his basement. Only gets driven a few hundred miles a year.. He is getting older so Im trying to help push him to do the things hes always wanted to do to it.

here is a pic of the front susp... I feel like the coils may have been cut down.. ****ty way to lower it.. But hopefully we can get it done correctly and itll ride much better

That lower bump stop doesn't look like it's more than an inch from hitting. Not the way to lower the truck for certain. As was said before, the truck did look lowered. Take some measurements from the ground to the fenders and you can get an idea of how much it is currently lowered and decide if that is enough or how much more you would like.
At the very least add new front springs to your list.

Yea.. We knew it was lowered.. And I had my suspicions, it was a hack job lol.. Want to do it right this time so I need to get the right parts... Between suspension, discs up front, axles in back and wheels and tires.. we are shooting for around $5k

Looks like heated coils up front.
I suspect the rear is the same. Stock rear shock mounts really have the shocks “layed over” at a terrible angle. I bet they just pivot on the mounts vs actually working.

Thoughts on this kit? Will this check the box of, fixing the suspension on all 4 corners, converting front to discs and 5 lugs? Would just need the rear axles then. Correct? Or am I missing something?

I’m not a CPP fan.
Many members here have used them. This price seems high. I normally piece together my kits. Maybe others will chime in.

Im not opposed to piecing together a quality kit.. I just dont know these trucks well enough yet. Which I why I am here with the experts haha.. If this was a 69 nova, Id have a much better idea on things.. I want this truck done right this time. And my dad has finally decided to open up the wallet a little but so now is the time to go all in so to speak.
