Side Moulding Dimensions
Final assembly prior to paint is completed on my 64 Fleetside.
The truck never came with side trim, so we have no previous holes to go from. Does anybody have any dimensions where holes need to be drilled, and the size of the holes as well. Any help would be apprecieatd. |

Re: Side Moulding Dimensions
I'm going to upload several pictures but working from the rear of the truck forward I can help you out with the bed and the doors. I don't have my fenders here but it may be straight forward once you get things in place... everything runs in a straight line except for the swoop up at the door.
Holes - 5/16" Top, 1/4" Bottom Don't know if it really matters, in my case I'm not going to use any of the spring style clips, I'll use the bolt in style. Bed: Vertical measurements are top row 2-1/8" and bottom row 4-3/8". Measurements are taken from the seam between the two bed side pieces (top and bottom). Starting from the rear of the bed at the seam between the bed side and end cap. The holes are at: 1-1/2", 10", 18", 27", 36", 45", 54", 63", 72", 81", 90" and 97 1/2". Same for top and bottom. Rear Cab: Measured from door opening back toward the bed. The holes are at 7/8" and 2-1/2". Same for top and bottom. Door: Measured from the door edge forward to the fender. The top holes are at 2-5/8", 11-1/2", 20-3/4", 28-5/8", 30-7/8" and 38-1/8". The bottom holes are at 2-5/8", 11-1/2", 20-3/4". From that line, jump up one inch and put the final hole at 25-3/8". Re: Side Moulding Dimensions
This photo is just showing you the spacing of 2-1/4", not the actual measurements. Last edited by 61hawk; 03-04-2022 at 07:01 PM. |

Re: Side Moulding Dimensions
My truck didn't have the holes so I used 3M two sided tape to apply. It wasn't that difficult. The only holes I drilled were for the spears at the front. There are numerous others who have done it the 3M way and there are some good instructional posts on here. I also used white vinyl in between instead of paint.

Re: Side Moulding Dimensions
Horizontal, the only hole locations that matter are for the front spear and the piece on the fender. There is a brace behind the fender and you need to make sure the nuts are accessible back there. The other holes on the door and bed, doesn't matter where they go, except for the one that is on the angle of the bottom door piece. The clips slide.

Re: Side Moulding Dimensions
Sorry, I don't have my fenders here... they're 150 miles away. Also what Jayoldschool said, as long as you can get to the back side to attach the nut or if you're using the spring clips anywhere they won't hit something, they can really go anywhere. I'd probably stick with the 9" spacing like on the bed.
