whats the difference in bendix and delco brake boosters?
im wondering because soon i hope to convert to discs and autozone and oreilly ask me if i have bendix or delco-moraine type brake systems when i ask for a booster and master cylinder.
what is the difference? which should i buy for my 70 when i put front discs?

I prefer Bendix over Delco. The master cyl. is much beefier and has two crosswise holddown clips for the cap. The pic shows my two earlier systems, both single clip Delco M/c's, which leaked constantly. Drum/drum m/c (equal size fluid reservoirs) and disc/drum m/c (fwd res. larger) I also opted for the deeper 3/4 ton booster for my 1/2 ton truck. Works great. I don't know if Delco and Bendix boosters are that much different from each other tho. Hope this helps a bit.

the difference is in the depth of the hole in the apply piston on the master cylinder. dont remember which style uses deep hole but you must use booster with longer rod that fits into the rear of master cylinder. vice versa for other set up. shallow hole on master, short rod on booster.

This really is only a little restoration trivia, but the Delco Morraine booster had a cadmium plated finish and the Bendix was painted black.

thats a nice thing to know sweet72... im not really going for the "restored" look as much as im looking for the restified look.
that may add to the decision imake

The research involved in putting one of these "relatively new" 67-72 trucks back to orig is something that keeps me interested in this truck project/obsession. Even though I plan to deviate and add some not-so-stock go fast goodies etc., I still want to know what it looked like off the assembly line.
