67-72 Rear Disc Setup
The other day, just for the heck of it, I purchased a set of plans for a rear disc brake setup from a guy on ebay. The plans were drawn on autocad and are excellent. The detail and simplicity is extraordinary. The entire setup is drawn to scale and templates are provided to cut mounting brackets. All you have to do is transfer them to 3/8" plate and cut them out. I should be able to do it no problem with my plasma cutter then some light cleanup afterwards. The plans also include a very comprehensive set of instructions and a complete summary bill of materials. All of the parts are "off the shelf GM parts" that require no modifications. You even get a rear e-brake. A buddy of mine already made a set of rear discs up for me, but I think I will go with these. The cost of the parts shouldn't be over a few hundred bucks. Here is the link if any of you guy's are interested.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2450216153
The auction lists it for an '87 but I spoke with the vendor and he said it will work on a '71/'72 rear end no problem. A guy I know makes Harley parts and I will have him chrome the brackets when they are done. It will be a little while, but I will share pics when I get them done. Just thought I would share this with you guys. It looks pretty good for a rear disc setup for a reasonable price.
