Borg-Warner Overdrive
Although I believe the R10Q-1 Borg-Warner Overdrive for the 7-Bolt Side Cover Saginaw Transmissions were from '66 to '69, that give us 3 years that they were offered in our '67-'69 Chevy trucks. I would say that less than 2% of our trucks got them though. Wondering if there are any stats out there on them.
Also, how many have that option in their truck? And was it Factory Original or installed later in time?

Re: Borg-Warner Overdrive
They could be ordered from the factory and are shown in the shop manual.. I have a '66 GMC that I added the SM319 with overdrive to.. Big improvement.. Those SM 326 w/OD are great units.. Some people get them, remove rhte tailshaft and modify a 4 speed Sag in to a 4 speed with overdrive.. They are hard to come by nowadays..

Re: Borg-Warner Overdrive
It seems like the overdrives were more popular in fords. My question is does someone make a bell housing to adapt a ford to a sbc? Or can the OD be moved to a chevy trans?
(I have one out of a 68 ford). |

Re: Borg-Warner Overdrive
I would check out Novak Adapters and Advance Adapters.

Re: Borg-Warner Overdrive
The tail shaft housing is a different shape between overdrive and non overdrive Chevy transmissions to accommodate the overdrive parts. The Ford tail shaft housing has a different shape than the Chevy
