Brake Booster Mounting: Bellcrank or Not?
I am converting a 68 C10 with factory power drum brakes to power front discs. The factory booster has the bellcrank design which I am not familiar with. From what I understand the bellcrank takes care of the required pedal ratio instead of mounting the pushrod lower on the pedal arm.
I looked at MP Brakes and their boosters have the bellcrank for 63-66 and 67-72. CPP's kits look like they have the bellcrank for the 67-72 but a straight pushrod for the 63-66. Is this standard procedure for 67-72's? When I installed CPP's booster in a 66 the straight rod work very well. Last edited by damnyankee36; 08-19-2022 at 01:11 PM. |

I have the CPP one in my 69 C-10 and it works great. I think the bell crank design is correct for my year not sure about yours.

Re: Brake Booster Mounting: Bellcrank or Not?
Thanks Harley. Is the master cylinder level or does it still point down like factory?

Re: Brake Booster Mounting: Bellcrank or Not?
HAHA! That actually kinda sucks as I never did like that. I wonder if it would still work if I got the pushrod style that's made for the 60-66 and just drilled a new hole in the pedal. I'm not sure if there would be clearance problems or how easy it would bolt up to the firewall.
Gotta think about this one. Thanks for helping out! |
