Re: Tucson AZ
Beautiful shot. It belongs in Arizona Highways.
But that's not Tucson. It's Bisbee. An old copper mining town about 2 hours southeast of the Old Pueblo. Still retains a lot of 19th Century - Victorian architecture. I took a Photojournalism class from the U of A there a long time ago. Location has been used by several film shoots. ''4 Eyes and Sixguns,'' [about a dude occulist from NYC, who reads too many Dime Novels and comes West to become a Gunslinger.] We shot ''old New York'' scenes using the antique buildings. The local FD sprayed airport runway foam on the set to make it look like snow in winter. The ''West'' part of the script was shot at Mescal and Old Tucson. The mine exterior location was used in Steven King's ''Desperation.'' Very photogenic town. But it ain't Tucson.

They rebuilt it, but cheaped out on the design. [Looks like an ''Old Timey'' ice cream parlor decor.] The former management went bankrupt due to the Covid epidemic. Pima County repossesed the property. I've heard it's coming back, but I don't know the particulars. Meanwhile, Mescal, a Western set 1 hour East of Tucson on I-10, near Benson, was bought by the Karchner Family. They had sold Karchner Caverns to the Federal Government, and [I guess] needed a new project. All the old buildings were dismantled, and then reconstructed with largely volunteer labor. Mescal was never open to the public. I understand they're shooting a low budget Western project out there now.

There's one in Lowell, Mass. Nope. Too new. One in Scottsdale. No, trucks that old would be towed away by snooty Scottsdalians. [Unless they're on a trailer bound for Barrett Jackson.] Open pit mine in distant b.g. Bingo! Bisbee. 602 used to be the Area Code for all of AZ. Then it became PHX only, and 520 for the rest of the state. Then PHX got subdivided into 623 and 480 [Mesa and East Valley.] Tucson and southern AZ are still 520.

Re: Tucson AZ
Come on down, Brother.
[Actually, Truckers say ''Down to PHX, and Up to Tucson,'' because of the change in elevation. It's a climb out, Southeast-bound. Snowbirds orient themselves to a map, with North at the top.]
