72 C-10 Help

Evening Guys I need some help here I'm rebuilding my front end on my C-10 I've replaced my Upper and lower control Arm bushings I'm looking in the shop manual here but I'm not getting the torque specs for the bushings can some one explain how much to torque them Thanks appreciate it

It appears that there is a misprint in your manual. Here's that same section from the 1968 service manual.

Upper Bushings, 160 new, 95 used
Lower Bushings, 280 new, 135 (130) used
(ft-lbs)

I haven't had to do this yet, but there are quite a few threads where the torque specs don't necessarily match the actual effort to seat these things. Prolly worth reading a few for context.

Indeed. When I rebuilt the front end on my truck, the running torque on the lower control arm shaft nuts was above the "replace" torque spec. I ran them down until the torque went up, and left them at that. Nothing has backed off in the last 8 years.

There are alignment pins in the cross member that insert into the dimples.

The dimples are to locate the shaft on the truck. Look under the seat that the shaft sets in. You will see a dowel in one of them. The dowel must go in the dimple. Be shure & position the dimple on the correct side of the control arm.
