Post way ot/alternator?

does anyone know which type alternator puts out high voltage with minimal rpms.im thinking the newer style has to be spinning pretty good to put out high voltage. does the old style external regulated work like this. this is for a windmill charging system.any advice is greatly appreciated thanks

The output can be changed by increasing the exciter power. I wanted to get 48 volts out an alternator and was told to get a "Big Frame" Ford alternator as it was the easiest one to adjust the exciter voltage on.

Buliding you own windmill would be challenging in that the wind varies so much.
I would like to know more about what you are doing.

I have 3 of the commercial 403 units, but I haven't got them hooked all the way up yet.
They don't seem to turn unless there are cows blowing by the house.

Here is my front yard. The towers are 40 feet tall.
