Question 94 Tranny

Hello,
New to the board.Having some tranny problems.
Before the tranny seem to be making like a roaring sound.
Now when i go to put in 3rd gear in grinds as i go to put it in the gear. When i try to go into 4th gear it just keeps poping out of gear.I was told it was the syncros in the tranny and would need new tranny.Anyone Know If Thats Right?

Also anyone know which tranny i have and can i enter change it with another kind.

Truck Info:
94 GMC Jimmy 4x4 /
4.3 vortec
5-speed

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for fast reply..

Yea i called one place and they told me they would charge $625.00

to take the tranny out clean it up and look at it.
the guy said that was just for labor.
He said it was cost more for parts.
I was wondering how much more for parts.lol thats the trick to it.

I priced a remanufactured tranny and they told me 1,500.

I got a 93 fullsize blazer 5speed.
My synchronizers are going bad in 3rd and 4th gear in the getrag tranny also.
Are you recommending I look for a used tranny at a junkyard instead of dropping it and getting the synchronizers replaced?

Check the costs both ways; I've never found a time when I could'nt buy one cheaper than it could be repaired. (Parts plus labor.) Might even find one here on the board near you. Someone had one just last week, if I'm not mistaken......S/S
