10 inch wide rallies

My son has come across a set of rim that look like the five lug chevy rallies from the early 80s BUT they are 10 inches wide. Anyone heard of these type of rim?

Sure. They were not from GM. 8" was the widest GM ever made. You could buy 10" from aftermarket like Wheel Vintiques and at one time Summit. Since then I believe Coker Tire in Tenn own the GM truck rally rights.
Back in the 80s I made my pair of 10s by cutting and welding. I've never wanted to do that again.

This is what I do (with Corvette style rallys).

I've got two complete and two in process.

Seems to me like the resulting wheel, after cutting and welding, would not be precisely "true" such that if you rolled it along flat surface, it would likely wobble to some degree (the welded pieces aren't exactly square). That is unless some type of jig is used to ensure the two halves are mated together square and plumb.

Am I just all wrong here? Would a very very slight wobble even manifest itself in some way? A huge one would, but if it's just a 32nd or less?

Yes - there is a lot of jigging and fixturing going on.

I keep the relationship between the bolt circle and the front of the rim intact and then reference off that. The rear portion consists of a sacrificial wheel with the added material.

I can keep them within .010" variation both laterally and radially.

...and looks like you can put quite a lot of stress on your welds without fear!

.010 is pretty impressive.
