When building and working on motors isn't it more convienient to breakin motor and work out bugs before final motor painting and installing in truck? Who has build their own or bought something like the one in link below? This guy is selling plans for one but for just plans it seems high priced. Any other ideas?

Granted, there is 3 days left, but 40 bucks seems reasonable to me.

ive seen second hand stands at flea markets for less than that like $25.also search in the classifieds in the garage and estate sales or even the business inventory sales

Im about to begin building me one of them ive never seen the kits on how to i guess it would be helpfull.

Local high school uses a 73=81 camaro subframe as an engine run stand kinda bulky but it works.

If you built alot of engines I can see having one. But if your going to be using it on one engine it wouldn't be worth it. Once you are done with it, it will sit and collect dust. You can work out the bugs and break in the motor while it is installed in your truck.

I have about 50 in materials now that I had to buy bigger casters... pretty simple once I got over the engineering bugs...
but I guess you could buy plans off Ebay...I was looking at a few different plans and wasn't impressed with what I read in their ads... I have bad experience with plans off of Ebay... so I looked at pictures of different set-ups and fabbed up my own.

I was going to print the plans that I drew in autocad and sell them for about ten bucks on Ebay... but I need to revise them since I changed the design to accomodate a flywheel(kinda helps to start...) my first design didn't allow enough room.

when I'm finished it will have a radiator mounted and full guages with a keyed ignition and an adjustable throttle to break in cams and such

I use the wooden crate that a crate engine comes in. Hit up you local Chevy dealership, and ask them for one as they just toss em.

Bought those exact plans a while ago, they look pretty good. Still haven't built mine though, didn't get a chance during the christmas break.

It's safe to say you could build your own without plans. This guy had the design all drawn up, so I decided to buy it and save myself the hassle of designing my own. To me it was worth $40.
