Front discs off a blazer?
For a easy front disc brake upgrade, I know you can take the front cross memeber assembly off a 73-87 truck. My question is, is the setup the same on a blazer? If so, anyone know when it changed? was it after 87 as well?

Crossmember changes are not the easiest way to go, however they are usually the cheapest and you can go back to 71 for disk brakes. If the Blazer is 2 wheel drive it would be the same. 4X4s are completely different animals. The easiest way to go is to buy a disk brake conversion kit like the one we sell for $469.95. That gets you the disk brake spindles that match your front end's equipment and offers you the choise of standard height, or drop spindles at no extra charge. It also comes with everything you need except the proportioning valve. (Spindles, bearings, rotors, calipers, brake pads, cotter pins, castle nut, and dust cap.) Brake dust shields are extra.
Doing a front crossmember change requires pulling your engine, removing brake lines, and enlongating holes in your frame among other things. Not that I wouldn't do it, because I have... Several times, because there are benifites to doing it, like the brake line location. That is only on the 71-72s though. Also if you decide on a complete crossmember change, don't forget to get the tie rods, idler arm, and idler arm bracket, because you will need all of it to match the spindles on it. Just a couple of things to think about. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Excellent information WES. Thanks! I would love to get an actual conversion, however with a 7mo old son, I wouldn't be able to justify the cost with the wife .
Thanks again!
