which one????

hey guys, its the new guy again, i have both a lt1 out of a 96 impala tpi motor and a ls1 out of a 97 vette. which one should i use???? and how what are the differences as in stall for the both. so all you gurus out there i need your help. thanks,darrell

The LT1 will bolt in, share most old style small block accessories, and be easier to install.

The LS1 will not "bolt in", is somewhat more expensive (parts wise), but is a much stronger and better performing engine.

I guess it comes down to your mechanical abilities and checkbook size.

im no expert but i would say use the ls1. although im sure the lt1 is an easier install.

I also say, best bang for the buck, would be the LT1..but since it's from an Impala, it's got a weak cam. What would be best, if you kept the LT1..is to swap in an LT4 "Hot" Cam, and a good set of headers. Also, as for stall speed, look at something around 3000rpm, and if you're going with the 700R4, then you'll want a set of 4.10 gears DEFINATELY, if you got a TH350, then you'll want 3.73's. Sounds like it'll be a mean combo
