i always wondered why my front track is wider than my back track, is the dana 44 wider than the eaton 10 bolt?

The front axle is designed to be wider on the front. I think GM decided that it gave you more tracking ability than having the rears follow the front groove or path. Did that make sense? Maybe someone else can explain it better..........

What pont said. But I also believe in a turn one of the rear tires would actually follow the path of one of the front tires say in snowy conditions and thus increase traction.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm ![]() |
