Master Cylinder Swap ?????
I have half ton 72 2wd Burb with power brakes and factory discs up front. Need to replace master cylinder. Does anyone know if a master cylinder from a newer model would have any advantages and would properly fit. Current lid leaks a lot. Maybe a master cylinder with a plastic resouvoir and screw top lid. Open to any ideas or suggestions.

You shouldn't have any problems with the stock 71and newer master cyl.The lid should not leak.Make sure the rubber gasket is in place.

I used one off an '85 Chevy 1/2 ton truck. It's aluminum with a plastic reservior. I'm not using a power booster, so I'm not sure if it would bolt up to one. I assume it would though. The bolt hole spacing is the same. You could go get one from the auto parts store and compare it to your stock one. The brake lines even hooked right up to the proportioning valve.

Since you have power brakes, the master cylinder will have to fit the booster. On some of the 72's we have had to buy what the parts stores list for a 73, so take your mastercylinder with you when you go to get one.
