700r4
I just bought a 89 blaser with the trans out. Was wondering if you guys had luck rebuilding these autos. I heard horror stories about the 700r4. Should i try to find a used one or get this one rebuilt.

Have a tranny built by a professional. I had mine first stock rebuilt again because a planned 400+ HP 350 SB. Find a local shop that has a good reputation. Just ask round town. I had a beefed up 700R4 for $1100. I could have gotten it for $650 but I wanted an all out tranny. Here is break down of my the parts: 13 vein pump, 5 gear planetary gears (stock have 4), extra 3/4 clutches, valve body shift kit, Corvette servo, beefed up reverse gear and extra wide band. I also use a 24000 GVW external transmission cooler. Use cooler. Heat is the major reason these transmissions fail. A 85+ core can be rebuilt with all the stuff need to survive in a Blazer.
If you need parts I bought a Vette servo from here www.bulkparts.com ------------------ Gerardo 1983 Custom Truck TX Plates: "BAD BOW" http://www.geocities.com/abetterchemist/ [This message has been edited by gchemist (edited 02-11-2002).] |
