I got a new ride!! ( big pics)
Its an '83 Jimmy, it needs a little more work but I think I like it. So far I have installed new seats, dash, doorpanels, tint, headliner, stereo, gauges (factory). I am dropping it off next week and it will be getting a 350hp 350 and new 2-1/2" exhaust, once I get my tax money back i am going to get a set of 33's and some new wheels. I actually bought this from another board member. What do you guys think? Guess i'm going to have to wait to bag my truck now

Hey, that's pretty cool. It looks like you needed a winter truck anyway. What wheels are you putting on it...?

Adam, great ride you picked up. Its a great color combo. Both exterior pics you posted happened to be in the shade. I'm in the midst of selecting a color to accompany the blue base color. Can you post a pic or two of the truck in full sun so I can see the color combo. better?
Also, on the speaker kick panels, did you stiffen them up any? I've heard they accept component speakers really well, but tend to be a little flexible on a good driving speaker. I've heard tips to add stiffeners to them. Would appreciate any feedback on this since I havn't installed mine yet. Some else also asked, what wheels will you be putting on it? Thanks and enjoy the new rig.

Gota love them k-5's, I had four of them, 2-77, 1-78, & 1-80. Well the 78 was really a jimmy, but I never went wrong when I owned them. Love the silver blue paint.

As fas as the kick panels go I have never done anything to stiffen them in my or any car I have ever used them in. I don't know what you consider to be a good driver but I am using jl audo rx compnents and they sound awesome. The only problem I have ever had is one friend constantly kicks it when he gets in the truck but has never done any damege. I am not too sure about what wheels I am going to run yet but I want to stay away from the pro comp, mickey thompson wheel everyone seems to have. I like them but I want something a little different. I might go with something like this.. what do you think

Adam, wheel selection is such an important part of the look of a truck. And for these old external lockout hub Dana 44's it's even harder to find a wheel that has a center opening large enough (3.5") and with a center cap that has a shoulder for the hub.
There is definately a reduced selection, especially in more modern styles. I'm looking for 20" dia. so there are even fewer choices. American Racing has a few wheels that are decent that fit this application. Also, I've spoken to Boyd Coddington technical reps. who indicate a Fury can be made to fit this application. Finally, I did some research on the Weld EVO Velocity 6. They indicate it will fit on the truck, but they do not make a center hub with a shoulder. I think, however that one can be made out of billet easy enough. That's pretty much the extent of the research I've done so far. The wheel you posted looks great actually. I like it, however, in my personal taste, I'm looking for something a bit more linear. Not totally linear, but something a little more rigid. N2TRUX on these boards has absolutely the best looking wheels for these trucks, in my opinion. But again, not available in 20" or 4WD hub opening. I hope this was helpful and keep me posted on your search! Greg.
