87 350w/TBI into 84 Scottsdale?
I'm buyin an 87 350 w/fuel injection and was going to put it in my truck but decided since my truck is so old(73) that it may have a lot of wiring issues and I decided I would let my dad have this engine and put it in his 84 that has a worn out old 305 because he would have less problems with wiring and such than I would. Am I right in thinking this? Would there be any problem w/getting the fuel injection to work in my dads truck or would it be a straight drop in? If we needed to could we take the intake and carb from my dads 305 and put it on the new motor?
Any help or advice would be awesome. - Ben

I'm pretty sure that you would need to come up with some sort of wiring harnass if you went from carb to fuel injection. Not sure if you might need an ECM module too. However, you should be able to remove the intake and carb as you suggested without a lot of trouble. I'm sure others will chime in on this, but that would be the easier fix than converting to fuel injection.

If you have the computer and complete harness for the TBI then it would be easier. But if not then you should sell the TBI and intake and like you said give it to your Dad and use his carb and intake. If you wanted FI then you can look at aftermarket ones that only require power and a ground supplied with their setups.
BTW: If you install teh TBI you need a new fuel pump since the FI requires alot more PSI than a carb does.
