Anyone have a picture of 67 - 72 dually
I am currently in the process of building a 1968 GMC pickup being mounted on a 1996 GMC 3500 frame, I am looking to see if anyone has any pictures of something like it for ideas for the rear dually fenders. Any ideas would be appreciated, right now I have a set of "81 -87 rear stepside fenders that I am thinking of using.

I have a few pictures but they are in a magazine and I have no way to get them onto the net.
A guy made a dually out of a 70 Chevy 3/4 ton 2wd. Says he used stepside fenders. Looks like the stepside fenders were grafted onto the regular fleetside box. Its in the Volume 1 Summer 1992 Truckin' Classic Trucks.

Now this is a mod you should consider investing your money in. I think you'll be a little more satisfied than the 1 ton project.

I would hold of on the 73 - 87 fenders, if you look at the wheel openings, they are squared off unlike the front fenders on teh 67 - 72. It'll look kinda funny like that IMO.
Here are some more pics of that blue longhorn, it does in fact have 67 - 72 step side fenders grafted onto a fleet bed. In this picture, it almost looks like it has later 89 - 98 fenders with the wheel opening rounded, which IMO would look killer. |

Thanks everyone for all of the help, I have some new found hope that it will look great now. The cab is sitting in the garage still waiting for a warmer day to go outside to be sandblasted. The whole project has to be complete for June 4, 2005 so it can be used for my wedding, luckily for me the wife to be really likes it as well.

these are some great looking trucks, i definatly prefer the original style bed. the one from so cal customs wth the crew cab I'd love to see some completed pictures of.

Interesting, not many 67's had stock bright grills, most were white. (I know it is a 68, but the grill is a 67)
That does apear to be a pretty clean truck. |

that grille has got to be a very hard find, these dualley look sweet but that one truck with the 88 up bed looks odd in my opinion

I have to agree with you that the new style box doesn't fit the lines of the truck, I am currently looking for a pair of '67 - 72 stepside fenders and putting the '81 - 87 fenders on hold. In regards to the grille the way I understood it was that I have a '68 grille and a '69 hood. Apparently '68 had GMC in the grille and '69 across the front of the hood. Let me know if I am wrong.

67 was the only year that had the GMC in the middle of the grill.

as much as I like the stepside dually conversion, I think the original duallies were not much more than a wheel arch flare. I thought I had a picture of one to add here but I can't find it, sorry.
If it were me, I'd look around for stepside fenders. Greg
