Switching E-brake from foot to hand style operation - anyone ever done this?
As a part of the restoration of my 71' C-20 I had to replace the cab. The one I got, I'm not sure what year, had the hand operated emergency brake. Of course the 71' had the foot style. It looks like it would be simpler to stay with the hand style that came with the replacement cab. Has anyone ever made this type of installation? I'm open to any and all suggestion on getting things to hook together.

If anyone who has a pickup with the hand style emergency brake could send me some photos of how it's mounted I might be able to figure it out. My Factory Assembly Manual is of no help.

I did this conversion on my 67 Panel. What you have is a 67 or 68 cab, because those are the only years with the hand brakes. If you want to see what I did to fix the firewall here is a link to my Panel Project page in my website.

Thanks Wes for your great response. If I had been smart that is how I would have done it during the restoration process. But, nobody ever accused me of having excess brains. I've got everything, except this emergency brake problem, completed. All during the restoration process I kept thinking the installation of either style brake would be no problem. (Me and that thinking problem again.) Right now I'm trying to mount the hand brake to a steel plate under the steering column, but things are not going well. Thanks again though for you help.
