update: engine news
well, i borrowed my friends engine hoist tonight getting ready for saturday.
today the shop called me making sure what color i wanted the block painted, i said black. he called me back a couple hours later asking to make sure my pushrods where hardend chromoly, because he said something about the guide plates i have would mess up normal ones(or thats what his secretary said) so if he's installing the pushrods, that means he's almost done!! so it looks like i'll for sure be dropping the engine in on saturday. anyone is welcome to come and help me if you want |

Yeah, you have to run hardened pushrods with guideplates. Sounds like your going to be having some fun this weekend.

We want pics!! You'd better have that digi-cam at the ready on Saturday, too.

Do they make a "chromoly" hardened pushrod? For some reason anytime I hear "chromoly" I think muffler bearings and "chromoly" rings.
You need the hardened pushrods for the camshaft with the increase in pressure and lift. Guideplates require them also so that the guideplates don't wear into the pushrods. I wish you luck in everything going in and together right.

Eric, were the block and heads hot tanked? Paint will stick better to them it they were.
Sounds exciting...bet you can't wait to do a burn out! Wait...are you still running that peg legg diff? Might be time to think about a posi and maybe a 12 bolt. Ahhh...the mods never stop!

Have you cleaned up your engine bay? Thsi is a great time to do it. I was pressed for time when I did my swap and was not able to clean it real good.

How come you don't have the time to clean everything up in the engine bay? You have another car to drive. It's not like you have to drive the truck, right? Believe me, you'll be sick when you get that beautiful engine in and look at how crappy everything else looks.

I agree. I wish I had more time to have done mine right. My firewall and fenders are needing alot of help now I did pressure wash it all down but in a pasture doing it doesn't help much but you gotta do what you gotta do.
