Speedo Cable - To Lube or Not to Lube
Just bought a new speedo cable for my 72 Burb. It is complete with both the inner metal cable and the outer sheath with the screw on connectors for the transmission and speedo. The inner cable appears dry. Should I lube it prior to installation? If yes, what should I use?

Yes lube it. I have always used a graphite spray, But I am sure a light weight lithium grease would work just fine. You do not want to use an oil or spray such as WD-40.

Yup, what he said. I have used lithium grease on mine with no problem, but I understand it's not the best for very cold climates. In Arizona, you should be fine with either grease or graphite.

Thanks guys. No lube came with the cable so I bought a tube of Permatex white lithium grease and coated the cable, then installed it.
