carb adapter help!!!
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...33&prmenbr=361
thats the intake i have. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...53&prmenbr=361 thats the carb adapter i have. i'm gonna be running a jet performance qjet on it. the problem is this: i put the adapter on to test fit everything. when i put on my old stock qjet off my 305, the bolts will not go all the way through the adapter because they hit the mounting points on the intake. to bolt the carb on, you are supposed to put the bolts in through the top, and then put a nut on the bottom, but the bolts wont even make it to the bottom! |

use the carb bolts like studs, you have to put them in before you bolt the adapter to the intake and then finish bolting down the adapter so the other bolts stick up like carb studs and then use a nut on the topside of the carb flange. The bolt heads will not turn because they fit inside the carb adapter, but you have to put them in before you bolt the adapter on. If you can't figure it out i'll mock up a setup when I get home tonight and takes pics of exactly how it should go, just so happens I have an intake and another adapter laying around so i'll bolt it up on the bench and send you some pics.
In other words put the bolts for the carb up through the bottom instead of through the top, thats the way I was using it to mount a holley onto a stock intake, will work just the same just instead your bolting spread bore carb to square intake.

Need smaller bolts then, I had to go to the hardware store to get mine. I'll see if I can find out what size you need.

For the carb you should have bolt with a 1/2" head and it should work.
