I am looking at buying a 84 3/4 ton. The box sit's lower than the back wall of the cab about 1". The rear frameon the cab ia not rotted. The body mount is only 1" thick should it be thicker ? or could the frame be bent ?

I have a similar problem, but don't know what the problem is.

Not trying to jack your thread, but nobody seems to be replying.

The front of my bed sits noticeably lower on the passenger side, yet the passenger side has a larger gap between the tire and fender lip.

Anybody know?

How do you check if a frame is bent? I assume you could measure diagonally from similar points on each side...

Was the truck sitting on level ground when you noticed this?

I think the cushion between the cab and frame mount should be thicker than 1"...are they BOTH 1" thick?

I figured My problem out. The cab mounts are 1/2 ton truck. And are 1 " thick The 3/4 ton truck has doubble thick mounts. About 2 1/2 inches. That's Whay the back of the cab sits lower.

Have you checked your cab mounts ? I bet they are rotted and one is sagging.,

I might have a rotted cab mount, but that alone wouldn't make the rear fender lip sit closer to the tire.

I am perplexed because my driver side sits lower than the driver side at the bed,

but the passenger side fender sits lower than the driver side.

front of bed = low on pass. side

wheelwell on bed = low on driver side

1/2 and 3/4 ton frames are the same dimensions.

Why are there 2 diffirent thickness of Cab Mount's ?

From 73 to 80 there were TWO different cabs, 2wd and 4wd. GM used different cab mounts to set the ride height for these cabs the same.

From 81 to 87 there is only ONE cab for both 2wd and 4wd.

When the frames and cabs get mixed due to repairs the cab issue is often over looked resulting in the cab sitting too low or too high. Sounds like this might be what happened to this truck.

Since the cabs are easy to identify once you know they are different buying the mounts for the frame for the cab you are using in most cases should fix the problem.

The 81 to 87 cab for 2wd and 4wd is almost exactly the same as the 73 to 80 2wd cab.

Using the older 4wd cab on a newer frame usually requires installing a 2" cab lift to fix the ride height. At least the one time I ran into this problem this fixed it.

You could run a carfax on it to see if that would bring up any wrecks.

I tried running carfax on my truck but then i saw the small print: vehicles must be made 1981 or later oh well lol

I did and it only showed a small wreck in the front, which is apparent with the fender and bumper damage that I have.
