The reincarnation: ground breaking

Finally I get things started on the truck. I pulled the fender and most of the molding. After the picture I kept on going by taking the bumpers, mirrors and tailgate off.
My plans so far are to sand it down to at least the black primer and re-spray the original blue. (I dont know what the deal is with this color but every truck or van in this color seems to have excessive paint chipping) Put on a nice wheel and tire combo. I’m leaning towards a 20’s or 22’s. I’m not going to re-install the black and chrome molding, but I am undecided if I want to leave the Scottsdale emblem on the fenders. Give me some feedback on what you think would look nice. i have no clue... its not worth knowing either. the rears sit inside the fender by a good 3 inches with 235's on a 6 inch rim. sorry for being no help.

it will be stock hight for now. after money allows i will bag it. you might as well do it right the first time. for now the mild custom look will do.

I would say shave the emblems, side molding, drip rails, and cab seam. Replace the zip strips in the windshield and back glass with black ones if they are not already, and add a set of wheel opening moldings. That should smooth things out, and give the wheel openings a bit of definition for the new wheel/tire combo.

Compared to mine, your truck looks new. I wish my body panels were in as good shape.

I like those wheels. Did you put them on there?

Also, I didn't know you had a LWB.

yes, i put the wheels on there. they are american racing ralley's.

the idea of the thin fender molding sounds good. i am going to have the enblem now but i still am unsure of the drip rail.

If you were going to leave the moldings, I would say leave the emblem. Since you are not (good choice, BTW) I would go ahead and get rid of them now. I like the look of the bigger wheels on a stock bodied truck, like Ken's 77 or Crush's Blazer, that have all of the trim on them, and are low. I am not a real big fan of teh black moldings on the Scottsdales, though. Just my $.02.
