UPDATE: MG found!!!
Thanks to everyone that helped with all of the information concerning my wife and my quest for a weekend cruiser.
We have located one and purchased it! We are now the proud owners of a 1966 MG midget. (please see below) I think I might be able to go to Largo, Fl where the car is at next weekend, but I don't have a trailer to bring the car back on. Is there anyone in Houston that has a car trailer or car dolly that I could rent or borrow for a couple of days to get the car and come back?? I know U-haul rents them, but they want 370.oo to rent one one way, and I don't know if they have a mileage clicker on the dolly if I take it far. Please let us know, and once again thanks for everyones help. Shawn

I would just fly down there and drive the car back, but I don't know that I trust it to go that far just yet. It hasn't been regularly driven in about a year. If this was a chvy I wouldn't have a problem with driving it back, but I really don't know much about these little british engines, yet.

AFAIK they don't say anything about milage on the dolly's, if you can make the trip in one day it shouldn't be too much if you just haul the dolly empty down there to get it.

i with Baradium there.... my brother is doin the same thing this weekend.... he is driving ten hours to my place with a rented dolly, picking up a car from me, and driving ten hours back.... only costs him $40 for the rental of the dolly.... but he did have to sweet talk the guy into a few extra hours to rent out the dolly..... dont rent it as a one way, and it will work better... jewels.

Won't the MG fit in the back of your truck??? kidding.. I'm with the others.. Don't rent one way, just drag it down there and back in a day.

I called today and got the price. I will have to rent it for 2 days (1000 miles each way.) Not a bad way to go.
On a second note, I will have to drop the driveshaft in order to tow it, please tell me it's as easy as these trucks to drop the shaft. The seller keeps mentioning a lowboy. You don't think pulling the car at 70 mph or 75 the whole way will grenade the rear do you? Should I get a lowboy, or stick with the dolly?

I think pulling the driveshaft would be the way to go.......think what would happen if something were worn enought to drop it into gear at 70....just my two cents...

Disconnect the driveshaft. whatever you do, don't tow it backwards with the front wheels on the ground. Those wheel knockoffs will work their way loose

I found a trailer to tow the car on at U-Haul for 49.00 a day. That is only 10 bucks more (20 for both days) than a dolly, and I don't have to disconnect anything
I'll post more pics when I get it home Sunday.

Where is Largo, FL? Is it Key Largo? Anyway I'm in Jupiter, just north of West Palm Beach on the east coast if you have any problems or anything I could try to help.
