Re: My new truck!
the wheels are off 80's GM trucks... more common on burbs.
The tranny is most likely the line to the modulator like already mentioned, should be short rubber into hard line , then at the bottom into rubber again. That's 4 points for the rubber to fall off a har line. Looks like a solid start. I noticed you are in OK and the truck is from Tx... you did get a clear title that was in the sellers name right? That looks like a very solid platform... and you can put 6X9's in the doors and not feel guilty. If someone talks smack about cuttin doors, you can blame the P.O.! You might want to do some investigating on that flex fan... do some searches on here and probably google too. Scarey stuff. |

Re: My new truck!
well i thought it was the kick down cable (it was not hooked up to the carb.) but when i talked to my other friend i found out that does not help the shifting. so today we will check the vaccuum and hopefully have that fixed. . .and hey cody (allen) if you want to leave the bottom inner door panel, i have a pair of 6x9's laying around here somewhere haha

They've been known to come apart and throw a blade threw your hood.

Re: My new truck!
The kickdown being disconnected will cause it to shift too early, but the modulator will 'override' that. With the kickdown disconnected, you'll find about 3500 RPM in first is about all you can get, and it'll stay in second for just a moment or two then go into third. Annoying when you are trying to haul ass, but you'll never notice it in normal driving... except for it won't downshift when you nail it.
As for the fan; The aftermarket ones are fairly well know for this. The GM ones were recalled back in the 70's. It's a stupid idea in reality. A rigid fan and a good clutch is 10 times better, and much safer. |

Re: My new truck!
Haha I will talk to him about the fan. . .his internet at home isn't doing so hot. . .lol
I went over today and we worked on it a little, the vaccum modulator has no line at/around/near it. . .found the problem. . .lol also found the front-driver running light laying in the fender well lip in the corner. . we got that wired in and hooked up, in the process of changing the tranny pan gasket. . .took the door panels off to take away some of the disappointment of P.O.'s. . .only to find that those speakers, they are stock Ford door speakers. . . .WOW. . .lol I will keep you updated until his internet is better, . .
