Re: 1950 GMC Project...

well, the tires are in rout from Coker so in the mean time i went ahead and painted the wheels so they will be ready.

with the truck still up in the air, i got the front headlights / park lights wired up though the wheel well for a cleaner engine bay...

also used the stock block for quick release of wires for future jobs and for that stock feel, today ill be going back over the wires with some black loom where ever the wires will be an eye sore...

front bumper is a new item. had to weld / repair the original brackets and fill in a nasty rust hole on the splash pan. the pan wont be perfect but at least it will look the part...

today all under car work will come to an end. the tail lights will get new wires and all nuts bolts will be double checked. yesterday i tried out the air bags up in the air and everything seems fine, no leaks and all is doing what it should be doing.

thanks,

Re: 1950 GMC Project...

That chrome will really set off the truck. I kinda wish I would've done the patina thing as I would be driving it now for sure. Keep up the good work!

Re: 1950 GMC Project...

well, the time finally arrived where i put the first mile on the truck!!! still got to get the exhaust done so i simply putted around town but everything seems to be working just fine. the truck lays hard with the fresh Coker raidial whites, only spider caps are missing now (they are on there way). headlights are functioning with high and low beams, tails are wired and new SS ones are on there way. things are on the up and up.

enjoy some pics for now hopefully tomorrow i can get the mellow tone mufflers installed and get the front end aligned. i should be ready for Saturday night cruising.

thanks,
Yaril

Re: 1950 GMC Project...

What a perfect candidate for the "patina" project. All the body panels looks straight and the rust seems to be only surface. Very cool build!

tell me about it. there was minimal rust to actually repair. only 2 quarter size holes if that remain on the back cab lower corners as with most.

went 14s... 215-75-14 they are about 26 diameter, with the rear end gear it turns very good.

Damn Yaril. Im still taking mine apart so I can let you start. But at this pace its gonna be about another month, especially with all these hurricanes. Man thats sum bad @ss stuff you got going there. I know you dont ever want to put the hood back on and I dont blame you.

I thought originally that the front bumper would be in the weeds? What happen to it laying totally out? Also did the 27'' not fit when laying out?

yeah these hurricanes are getting annoying huh. thanks for the compliments! as for the bumper i plan to lower it about 1" later on. it wont sit on the floor but will be close enough. as for the tires i opted to stay 26", i am 80% sure that 27" will work cause there is easily an inch above the tires with no obstructions. with the rear gears 26 tires do just fine on the highway.

plans are still vague, i want to get a driver 4-door doner car and simply fix the major rust areas, get it running driving and as low was possible with no air bags.
