Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

.

Discovered this morning that I hired a disgusting thief electrician that is extremely dishonest. Dishonest to me about the details of the work he would do. Dishonest about the work he did do. Dishonest to his boss about what he told me he would do and what he and I agreed upon.

1200 dollars I paid this outfit to come and get my service turned back on after storm damage. When I arrive back here to the house post repair, I find no power in my kitchen outlets or the fridge. The panel has breakers for both circuits and they were working (wired up) prior to my 1200 dollar repair service. I pull the panel cover off and find those two breakers aren't wired to anything (see pics). Now the mystery unfolds...the 2 circuits are hanging bare wire outside near my meter box not connected to anything.

I call the "electrician" to inquire about the unfinished work and he tells me, and note the quotes, putting those circuits in the panel "is not free." Indeed I understand that but...the breakers are installed in the panel already, the only thing missing or needing to be done is to get those bare wires into the panel somehow.

So, my question to this group is what is best practice for getting those bare wires into my panel and wired to those two breakers? Looks like I'll most likely have to do this myself. I'm not paying the lying crook another dime and am reluctant now to hire anybody else.

Thanks,

-Kevin

If those breakers were there before he worked on it it is on him to put them back in and wired up. What kind of "electrician" would leave open ended wires hanging outside the meter center like that? And not test to see that ALL circuits in the home were working again?

Exactly my thoughts. I paid premium for $hit. They billed me for 12 man hours, 2 men for 6 hours. Both men were paid at the full rate and I'm certain only one of them was a certified electrician.

So I truly jinxed the weather snow wise. I took the snow plow off the Wrangler last night. Before and after pics.

Did they pull a permit? I guess I know the answer to that. I ALWAYS have a permit pulled. We hired a plumber to replace our water supply line from the street to the house. Good thing we had a permit, as they cut off the phone/cable TV conduit for half of our street. Kid says he thought the tubing was for a sprinkler, and he's in there trying to twist the wires back together.

.

The invoice lists the cost for a permit. Whether that's the case, I have no idea. The nature of the damage required an inspection before power was restored from the transformer out back though.

Wait -- are you saying that passed an inspection with those disconnected wires just hanging there? Something isn't adding up.....

Simples. Call the Building and Safety office. If a permit wasn't pulled, you have those guys by the short hairs. When I had my service replaced, that inspector inspected every joint, and even crawled into the attic to verify how the new ground cable was run from the back of the house to the cold water line at the front.

Call the inspector and have them out to INSPECT the repair and let them find all this crap and go after the contractor.
